Loch Ness Monster Spotted In Pond Just North Of Streator!?

Today was much like any other day, which entailed yet another long trip on Route 23 into Streator. In addition to the regular unusual sights on my way into town, a woman painting her toe nails on the steering wheel, a man going 85 in a 55 who clearly had too much coffee this morning as his eyes were bugging out of his head, a rabid raccoon on the road side, there was also something strange I was not prepared for.

Not long after passing through grand ridge, I was greeted by the glaring sunlight just outside of Streator. I had to squint just to keep my vehicle on the road, but the sun would soon be eclipsed by a large shadowy figure emerging from the small lake on the right hand side of the road. I was instantly mesmerized by the elegant and majestic figure. I was so awe struck, I had become the dreaded distracted driver, and had to slam on breaks to avoid a rear end collision. Traffic had come to a stop as dozens of people flocked to the side of the road to catch a glimpse creature.

Unfortunately the creature did not respond to my questions or requests for an interview. I can only assume that it is shy, as it would soon submerge itself back into the pond. And a moment that lasted no more than a minute was long gone, and the Streator citizens were left on the side of the road with more questions than answers.

It’s unclear if the City of Streator is aware of this endangered species, or what Streator Animal Control intends to do to protect this creature. In our opinion, the whole area should be declared a wild life preserve. But for one group of citizens, the site has become a holy place. “We have just come to pay our respects to Mother Earth, and her creatures” a local hippie girl said, while lighting a candle and singing songs in hopes of coaxing the beast in to reappearing before us.

One has to wonder why Nessie would stray so far away from home, if this is a distant relative, or perhaps even an entirely unrelated member of the same species. One thing remains to be seen however, is this our newest resident of Streator, or is it just passing through? Some say in the darkest of nights, on a full moon, you might just catch a glimpse of Streator-Nessie.
